TASTING NOTES

95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet

Youthful fruit-driven wine that is soft & balanced. It is packed with lots of dark fruit, especially plum & black raspberry. Long, sweet fruit finish with a lingering hint of warm earth and baking spice. Round, soft mouthfeel complimented by a beguiling palate of flavors.

Alcohol 13%

WINEMAKING

The 2012 vintage has been a challenge so far, but this Merlot is the exception. The grapes were harvested on consecutive days at the estate vineyards, the Cabernet on 10/17/12 and the Merlot on 10/18/12. 796 Yeast was used on both components in this blend. The wine finished primary and malolactic fermentation and was treated with French oak. Fresh and exuberant, this is as close as you will get to going out & tasting the grapes right off the vine.

TASTING NOTES

100% Merlot.

Lovely garnet and purple-hued wine. Aromatic with spicy tones, sandalwood, cigar box, tomato stem, and cranberry on the nose. On the palate bright red fruit, rhubarb, mulberry, red plums, and crushed herbs dominate with a dusting of coffee and milk chocolate on the finish.

DRINK WITH

Prato and Cheddar, morel mushroom pasta, Quiche Lorraine, French onion soup with gruyere, or a buttery puffed pastry generously filled with walnuts, ricotta cheese, and Italian chestnuts.

Alcohol: 12%

WINEMAKING

The estate is located in the rich and flourishing countryside in the north of Treviso, and the vineyards are situated on the plains and hillsides near Piave River in the Veneto in Italy. The wine is vinified off the skins and fermentation is completed in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.

The grapes are harvested solely by hand in small crates. Every effort is made to avoid breakage and bacteria attacks. The wine deposits are filled very briefly so as not to delay the delicate fermentation process. Pebbly and permeable soil, allowing good drainage. Cordon cane training system.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Aromas of tangy red currant and cranberry accompanied by spicy cedar and black flinty mineral notes. The palate mirrors the nose and adds boysenberry, black cherry, and a splash of kirsch in addition to a slight green bell pepper and menthol finish.

DRINK WITH

Ideal with Roquefort and Requeijao cheeses; roasted meats, like prime rib, or a juicy steak; smoked pork tenderloin, grilled portobello mushroom risotto sprinkled with crumbled Stilton blue cheese.
