-- $24.99
-- Established in 1920, the Boudon vineyard lies in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, 25 km S.E. of Bordeaux, and covers 62.5 acres - 35 acres producing grape varieties: Sauvignon, Semillon, Muscadelle, and Ugni-Blanc for white wines. Since 1963 the vineyard has practiced organic farming, following the strict methods and rules defined by the BIOFRANC organic association. Thus, all of their vines are cultivated without chemical fertilizers, weed-killers, insecticides or artificial fungicides. Only organic compost of animal or vegetable origin, and natural insoluble minerals, are added to the land. Why such a choice? Patrick and Maryse Boudon, a couple with a combined total of 70 years’ winegrowing experience, explain: “We believe that wine can only be as good as the grape from which it is made, and the quality of the grape depends solely upon the husbandry devoted to it and the soil from which it stems. Organic farming is a concept based both on the respect of a natural order and on a complete trust . . .

Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Guy Chaumont
A Great Classic!
-- $24.99
-- Guy Chaumont produces wines from vineyards on the Côte Chalonnaise, a low ridge in the southern part of France’s famous Burgundy region. Côte Chalonnaise now merits its own appellation to distinguish these wines from other Burgundys. Its reds are renowned for ripe fruit and drinkability compared to more tannic and concentrated reds from the areas further north around Beaune. The Chaumont eight acre estate is quite small, like many local vineyards. Guy took over seventeen years ago from his father, who had converted to organic growing ten years earlier out of concern for the family’s health. Their vineyard is certified organic by Ecocert, one of the French certifying agencies. Grapes are fertilized and protected from pests naturally, without synthetic chemical sprays.Smooth, fruity and aromatic. Aged in new & old oak after pressing. Full of the ripe berry flavor of Pinot Noir. It will age gracefully and is excellent with meat, cheeses and hearty casseroles.AOC Bourgogne; 100% Pinot NoirAlcohol . . .

Domaine des Cèdres

-- $14.99
-- Domaine des Cèdres is located in a small commune in France's Southern Rhône Valley. Often called a "Blessed Region," the Rhône Valley is in a climate that is ideal for grape growing. The vineyard features several plots on hillsides which have a stony, clayey and calcareous soil which are friendly to vines and little else. The stones absorb the hot summer sun and then reflect warmth onto the vines at night. The climate is mediterranean, although the Mistral, a cold northerly wind that can endure for days on end, is a feature of the Southern Rhône. The dry Mistral winds, however, minimize vine disease and dry out the vineyard if hit with summer rains.Domaine des Cèdres winemaker, Dominique Pons, is a true pioneer of organic viticulture. He has been into organic winemaking for at least 20 years, and was one of the first in the Côtes-du-Rhône AOC to go organic. In addition, he's been studying and applying the principles of Biodynamic farming at Domaine des Cèdres for several years, and is involved . . .
